World Multiple Sclerosis Day 2026

May 30th is World Multiple Sclerosis Day, a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness, fostering understanding, and advancing action for the millions of people worldwide living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

At the Research Center for Clinical Neuroimmunology and Neuroscience Basel (RC2NB), MS is one of the core pillars of our scientific mission and a field in which our researchers, clinicians, and study teams have contributed to major advances in understanding disease mechanisms, developing innovative biomarkers, improving diagnostic tools, and evaluating new therapeutic approaches.

Despite remarkable progress over recent decades, many questions remain unanswered. Why does disease progression differ so significantly between individuals? How can we identify subtle changes earlier? How can we better predict treatment response? And how can emerging technologies help deliver truly personalized care?

Addressing these challenges requires collaboration across disciplines and institutions. At RC2NB, researchers work at the intersection of clinical neuroscience, neuroimaging, biomarker discovery, digital health, and translational medicine to generate insights that can ultimately improve the lives of people living with MS.

On this World MS Day, we recognize and thank the patients, families, healthcare professionals, researchers, study nurses, and research participants whose commitment continues to drive progress in the field.

Every study, every data point, and every discovery brings us one step closer to a future where MS can be understood more precisely, treated more effectively, and ultimately prevented.

Together, we continue to advance the science of Multiple Sclerosis—one discovery at a time.
