We are proud to share that research involving RC2NB investigators has been published in one of the leading journals in cardiovascular medicine.
This study demonstrates that neurofilament light chain (NfL), a marker of neuroaxonal injury, is significantly associated with cardiovascular risk and outcomes, even in patients without overt neurological disease.
Key findings include:
- Higher NfL levels are linked to increased risk of cardiovascular events and mortality
- NfL provides independent prognostic value beyond traditional risk factors
- It captures systemic, cross-organ processes connecting brain injury and cardiovascular disease
These results highlight a critical shift: cardiovascular risk is not purely cardiac it reflects whole-body biology, including the brain.
This work reinforces RC2NB’s mission to advance integrated, biomarker-driven precision medicine across disciplines.
