RC2NB research featured in JAMA Cardiology

We are proud to share that research involving RC2NB investigators has been published in one of the leading journals in cardiovascular medicine.

This study demonstrates that neurofilament light chain (NfL), a marker of neuroaxonal injury, is significantly associated with cardiovascular risk and outcomes, even in patients without overt neurological disease.

Key findings include:

  • Higher NfL levels are linked to increased risk of cardiovascular events and mortality
  • NfL provides independent prognostic value beyond traditional risk factors
  • It captures systemic, cross-organ processes connecting brain injury and cardiovascular disease

These results highlight a critical shift: cardiovascular risk is not purely cardiac it reflects whole-body biology, including the brain.

This work reinforces RC2NB’s mission to advance integrated, biomarker-driven precision medicine across disciplines.
